Web design for Essex businesses
We are based on the Essex and East London border, and a good number of the businesses we build for are on our doorstep.
Romford, Brentwood, Chelmsford, Basildon, Southend, Colchester, the pattern is much the same across Essex. Established local businesses with real customers, competing against national companies that outspend them online but do not know the area.
Local search is where that gets evened out. A well-built site plus a properly set-up Google Business Profile puts you in front of people searching in your town, which is where your actual customers are.
What we usually build here
Trades, restaurants and takeaways, salons, clinics, garages, professional services and travel firms. Mostly the £500 to £1,500 range, occasionally larger builds with booking systems or online ordering.
Straight answers, fixed prices
You get a fixed price up front and a person who answers the phone. If a cheaper option would do the job, we will say so, that is worth more to us over time than squeezing one project.
Why good local firms lose online to worse national ones
It is a pattern we see repeatedly across Essex, and it is almost never about the quality of the work.
A national company with a marketing department produces a page for every town it claims to cover, keeps its listings complete and consistent, and collects reviews methodically. The local firm that is genuinely better at the job has a site from 2014, a Google listing nobody has touched since it was created, and no reviews despite years of happy customers. The search results reflect the marketing, not the tradesman.
The gap is closable, and cheaply, because the national operator has one real weakness: it is not actually from here. A site that names the towns you truly cover, shows work you have done locally, and carries reviews from people in the area will out-convert a generic national page even when it does not out-rank it everywhere.
Reviews are the lever most Essex businesses ignore
For a local business the number and recency of Google reviews affects both where you appear in the map results and whether someone chooses you once they see you. Most of the businesses we speak to have plenty of satisfied customers and almost no reviews, purely because nobody ever asks. We set up the asking, a short link, a card, a follow-up message after the job, as part of the local search work. It is unglamorous, it costs nothing, and it usually moves the needle faster than anything we could change on the website itself.
Where our clients are
Romford, Ilford, Hornchurch, Upminster and the border boroughs closest to us; Brentwood, Basildon, Chelmsford, Colchester, Southend and the coastal towns further out. Being nearby means we can come out for a first meeting or a handover where that genuinely helps, but we will not pretend proximity matters for the build itself, which runs the same wherever you are.
Common questions
Which parts of Essex do you cover?
All of it, and the London boroughs bordering it. Location makes very little difference to how a website project runs, it matters mainly for local search, which we set up wherever you are.
Can you help with an existing site built by someone else?
Usually. We will look at what you have and tell you honestly whether it is worth improving or rebuilding. Plenty of sites just need speed and search fixes rather than starting again.
Do you come out to see us?
For anything nearby, yes, where it is genuinely useful, normally at the start when we are working out what you need, and at handover. The rest runs perfectly well over email and calls, and we would rather spend the budget on the build than on travel.
How quickly can you get us live?
Two to three weeks for a straightforward site once we have your content, and content is nearly always the thing that sets the pace. If you have a fixed date, a season starting, a new premises opening, tell us at the quote stage and we will say honestly whether it is achievable rather than agreeing and then missing it.
